If Luke Humphries succeeded in narrowing the gap between himself and Luke Littler in his three televised tournament appearances of the past month, it was not quite enough to enable him to defend his World Masters title in Milton Keynes.
Humphries, on his best form since surrendering the world number one position to the teenage sensation, looks forward to a ProTour season in which he would expect to win more than two of every three legs he plays against his fellow Tour Card holders, and with the Premier League also looming the gap of nearly four points separating him from Littler in averages is now reduced to just 1.5 points.
Humphries is also throwing 89 maxima in every 200 legs – far behind the record-breaking output of Littler but also well ahead of accomplished treble-shooters Josh Rock, Michael van Gerwen and Gerwyn Price.
Humphries’ optimism about his prospects in 2026 is well-founded on these figures, and especially on his narrow defeat to a player he lauded as ‘the greatest ever’.
Price’s missed match dart against Littler is the closest any player has come in recent months to defusing ‘The Nuke’ in a ranking televised event, and while Gian van Veen’s whitewash defeat at the ‘cool hands’ of Humphries stunningly reversed the outcome of their World Championship match-up, ‘The Giant’ remains a giant on the Form Guide leaderboard.
The young Dutchman has retained the #1 and #3 spots in doubles and averages, respectively, although the inauguration of the 2026 Premier League finds the remaining four players in rough statistical shape.
Rock has been twice whitewashed in sets on TV and is currently averaging 96.68 after spending most of 2025 above 100; Jonny Clayton has fallen to 54th in the PDC for doubles accuracy and a 94.54 average; and Stephen Bunting and Michael van Gerwen have declined more than 2 points in OChE since the conclusion of the World Championship after disappointing early exits in Milton Keynes.
If the Luke Humphries-Luke Littler rivalry appears alive and well, those two players may have more opportunities to clash in the Premier League if their veteran opponents cannot quickly improve.
Of the players about to embark on their professional journeys as newly-christened PDC Tour Card holders, the player leading the way is Beau Greaves.
She will make her debut on the ProTour as the player with the 20th highest average in the PDC and as the 15th most scoring-efficient player, with 17 ton-plus finishes to her name over the past 200 legs, and these figures put her ahead of the likes of Rob Cross, Damon Heta and Ryan Searle.
Yet while she did not qualify for the televised phase of the World Masters, WDF World Champion Jimmy van Schie did, making his entry into a televised PDC ranking event with 48% accuracy on his doubles – behind only his countryman Gian van Veen – and an OChE rating indicating a likelihood of winning a majority of his legs on the ProTour.
Greaves and van Schie are both hitting more than 40% of their doubles and almost 80% of their legs in 18 darts or fewer, which provide good signs for long and prosperous careers in the PDC.

The statistic is the % of legs a player would expect to win on the ProTour, calculated from a weighted average of 4,5, 6 & 7 visit checkout rates.
