Cor Dekker & Jani Haavisto shared the spoils as the 2026 PDC Nordic & Baltic ProTour season began in Latvia last weekend.
Norwegian trailblazer Dekker kicked off the year’s opening double-header with victory in Riga, producing a sensational 160 checkout to topple Sweden’s Andreas Harrysson in a last-leg decider.
Dekker opened his challenge with resounding wins over Asko Niskala and Oskars Kuzmans, before whitewashing Lithuania’s Darius Labanauskas to book his place in the quarter-finals.
Following a 6-2 win against Alexander Thorvaldsson, Dekker then overcame Latvia’s Dmitriy Zhukov in the semi-finals, running out a 6-3 winner on his way to clinching the Event One crown.
However, arguably the story of the weekend saw Finland’s former World Cup semi-finalist Haavisto mark his return to action with Event Two success on Sunday.
Haavisto – returning to the sport following an eight-year absence – defeated Sweden’s Oskar Lukasiak 6-4 to celebrate his eighth Nordic & Baltic title – his first since 2014.
The 38-year-old began his campaign with wins over Harijs Cinis and Bjorn Lejon, before defying a stirring fightback from Harrysson to prevail in a last-leg shoot-out.
Haavisto continued his charge with a 6-1 thumping of his fellow countryman Teemu Harju in the quarter-finals, which was backed up with another deciding-leg success against Daniel Larsson.
The weekend’s play also saw qualifiers for European Tour Events 1-3 take place in the Latvian capital, as Haavisto also secured his big stage return via the ET3 Qualifier.
Haavisto will feature in March’s Belgian Darts Open after dispatching Harrysson 6-1 in their winner-takes-all showdown, avenging his defeat to the Swede in the ET1 Qualifier.
Harrysson will subsequently compete in the inaugural Poland Darts Open later this month, while Finland’s Jonas Masalin sealed his place at the European Darts Trophy after easing past Anton Ostlund in the ET2 Qualifier.
Following the opening weekend of action, Dekker and Haavisto are in the provisional qualification places for the 2026/27 Paddy Power World Darts Championship, with the top two players on the final rankings assured of spots at Alexandra Palace.
The 2026 Nordic & Baltic ProTour season will continue next month, as ProTour Events 3-4 and Qualifiers for European Tour Events 4-6 take place from March 27-29.
