Jack Drayton secured his second consecutive Winmau Development Tour title to cap off a terrific opening weekend in Leicester.
Drayton – fresh from clinching his maiden Development Tour crown in Saturday’s Event Four – extended his winning run to 18 matches in pocketing the £3,000 top prize at the Mattioli Arena.
The 19-year-old sealed the deal with a 5-3 victory over Tour Card Holder Cam Crabtree, who secured top spot in last year’s Development Tour rankings.
However, Drayton now has his eyes on top spot after claiming a series of impressive scalps in the East Midlands.
Following comfortable wins over Nando Engelen and Daniel Stephenson, Drayton overturned a 3-2 deficit to deny Ben Townley, having also produced a late comeback against the same opponent in Event Four.
The Fleetwood youngster continued his charge with 4-1 thumpings of Mason Teese and Thomas Banks, before breezing to a whitewash win against Mylo Michiels in the last 16.
Drayton edged out Archie Self in a dramatic last-leg shoot-out in the semi-finals, which was preceded by a 5-3 victory over Ireland’s Dylan Slevin in the last eight.
This set up a winner-takes-all showdown against Crabtree, which saw Drayton conjure up a crucial 155 checkout in the penultimate leg of the contest.
Crabtree produced averages of 101 and 98 en route to his first Development Tour final of 2026, before running out a resounding 5-2 winner against rising star Tyler Thorpe in the semi-finals.
Thorpe averaged 107.36 against Daniel Terry earlier in the event – a performance that was matched by Germany’s Florian Preis against Born van Put in the last 64.
Drayton’s brace of titles have elevated him into second spot on the Winmau Development Tour rankings, with Van der Velde still occupying top spot following his wins in Events One and Three.
Event Two winner Sebastian Bialecki has slipped to third, while Charlie Manby and Cam Crabtree make up the top five.
The top two players from the 2026 Development Tour rankings will each win a PDC Tour Card for 2027-28, while the top three players will earn a place in the 2026/27 Paddy Power World Darts Championship.
The 2026 Winmau Development Tour season continues in April, as Arena MK in Milton Keynes plays host to Events 6-10 from April 24-26.
