James Wade has etched his name into the darting history books by becoming the first player in PDC history to celebrate 1,000 wins in Players Championship events.
Wade brought up the milestone during Players Championship Seven, defeating Germany’s Lukas Wenig in his opening round tie to create history at the Mattioli Arena.
The 42-year-old has been a prolific winner on the ProTour circuit throughout the last three decades, after making his Players Championship debut in the Bobby Bourn Memorial Trophy back in July 2004.
Wade won his maiden Players Championship title in Gibraltar in January 2008, defeating the likes of Mark Dudbridge, Mervyn King and Denis Ovens to open his account.
The sport’s most successful left-hander has since claimed 20 Players Championship titles, with his most recent triumph coming at Players Championship One in February.
The ten-time TV title winner defeated Nathan Aspinall 8-6 to take the title, having also converted four ton-plus finishes in his thrilling semi-final success against Michael van Gerwen.
Wade currently occupies fourth spot on the 2026 Players Championship Rankings, illustrating his remarkable longevity at the sport’s highest level.
