Devon Petersen will make his BetVictor World Cup of Darts return in June, after prevailing in the African Darts Group World Cup Qualifier last weekend.

Petersen will represent South Africa for a 12th time at this year’s World Cup of Darts, after defeating Johan Geldenhuys 8-4 in their winner-takes-all showdown at the Flamingo Casino in Kimberley.

There was nothing to separate the pair in the opening exchanges, but Petersen took control midway through proceedings, winning five of the last six legs to confirm his big stage return.

Petersen will rekindle his partnership with Graham Filby for the first time in a decade, after the pair guided South Africa to their second World Cup quarter-final in 2014.

China’s World Cup partnership has also been confirmed, with Qingyu Zhan and Xiaochen Zong set to star in Frankfurt.

The pair claimed two titles apiece in the year’s opening weekend of China ProTour action, and therefore occupy the top two places on the China ProTour rankings at the qualification cut-off.

Zhan will make his World Cup debut at the Eissporthalle, while Zong will lead China’s challenge for a fourth consecutive campaign.

The 2026 World Cup of Darts takes place from June 11-14 in Frankfurt, and features 40 pairs of players representing their nation.

Reigning champions Northern Ireland will headline the tournament following their historic maiden win last year, as the pairs compete for a boosted £500,000 prize fund.
