Trinidad and Tobago will make their BetVictor World Cup of Darts debut in June, after Joshua Balfour and James Walklin stormed to a historic victory in last weekend’s Championship Darts Latin America and Caribbean Qualifier.
With Uganda advancing through last month’s North African World Cup Qualifier, Trinidad and Tobago will become the latest debutants to grace this summer’s showpiece in Frankfurt.
Balfour and Walklin sealed their qualification with a comprehensive 10-1 victory over Bahamas’ pairing of Rashad Sweeting and Lorenzo Deveaux in Friday’s final.
Walklin produced a series of clinical combination finishes to guide his country to a landmark victory, converting 128, 96, 68 and 66 checkouts along the way.
Sweeting was eyeing a return to big stage action after enjoying a memorable World Darts Championship debut in 2024/25, but Trinidad’s darting duo delivered the goods in Panama City.
Having progressed through the round-robin phase with a trio of wins, Balfour and Walklin sealed their spot in the quarter-finals with a five-leg whitewash of Brazilian pairing Roberto Wentz and Claudio Domingues.
The pair then accounted for last year’s winners in a compelling last eight tussle, surviving a match dart to deny Argentina’s Jesus Salate and Victor Guillin in a last-leg decider.
Balfour and Walklin also produced a late flurry to defeat Chilean duo Mauricio Carcamo and George Patterson in the semi-finals, before powering past Sweeting and Deveaux in dominant style.
Finland and Denmark also confirmed their qualification last weekend, as the PDC Nordic & Baltic ProTour season continued in Vääksy.
Jani Haavisto and Jonas Masalin will fly the flag for former semi-finalists Finland, having obtained positions on the PDC Werner Rankings Ladder following their European Tour appearances in 2026.
Meanwhile, Andreas Toft Jørgensen and Jonas Graversen will represent Denmark, after clinching their spot via the PDC Nordic & Baltic Rankings.
The 2026 World Cup of Darts will be held from June 11-14, as 40 pairs of players represent their nation and compete for glory at Frankfurt’s Eissporthalle.
Reigning champions Northern Ireland will headline following their historic triumph last year, as top seeds England and last year’s runners-up Wales also compete for a boosted £500,000 prize fund.
