Jesus Salate claimed back-to-back titles as the 2026 Championship Darts Latin America and Caribbean Tour got underway last week.
The 2026 CDLC Tour began with Events 1-3 from April 23-26, as Argentinian star Salate took centre stage in Panama City.
The 43-year-old earned a World Darts Championship debut in December after claiming top spot in last year’s rankings, and he made the dream start to the 2026 season with Event One success.
Salate conceded just four legs throughout Thursday’s tournament, demolishing Trinidad and Tobago’s Joshua Balfour 6-0 to secure his fifth CDLC title.
Having kicked off his campaign with successive whitewash wins against Piero Carillo and Claudio Domingues, Salate also swept aside Michael Moss, Artur Valle and Guillermo Soto en route to glory.
The Argentinian extended his winning run on the CDLC circuit with Event Two victory, averaging 97.56 to dispatch his compatriot Victor Guillin 6-1 in Saturday’s showpiece.
Salate overturned a 4-3 deficit to edge past Chile’s Alex Gutierrez in round two, but otherwise it was another procession to the title, which began with a 6-1 drubbing of Jaime Cerrada.
Following back-to-back whitewash wins, Salate then celebrated a 6-2 semi-final win against James Walklin, who will partner Balfour for Trinidad and Tobago in June’s World Cup of Darts.
Guyana’s Norman Madhoo then rounded off the weekend’s action by prevailing in Event Three, comprehensively accounting for Dean Persad 6-1 to take the title.
Madhoo – a four-time World Championship qualifier – ended Salate’s winning run in the semi-finals, winning three of the last four legs to complete a 6-4 victory.
The 62-year-old also recorded a hat-trick of 6-1 wins against Alvaro Seas, Rosario Saravia and Soto, while blitzing Mauricio Carcamo in six straight legs earlier in the event.
Salate occupies top spot on the embryonic 2026 CDLC Rankings, with qualification to the 2026/27 Paddy Power World Darts Championship on offer to the highest-ranked player at the end of the season.
