As we enter Finals Day at the Mr Vegas Nordic Darts Masters tonight, a new champion will be crowned after Stephen Bunting was defeated by Viktor Tingstrom on the tournament’s opening night in Copenhagen.
Swedish star Tingstrom – the only regional player to progress to the quarter-finals – opens Saturday’s proceedings against Michael van Gerwen, who comfortably won his opening match 6-2 against Oskar Lukasiak.
It’s going to be a tough task for Tingstrom who is 5/1 to progress to the semi-finals, with Van Gerwen heavy favourite at 1/6 to reach the last four of the Mr Vegas Nordic Darts Masters.
Van Gerwen prevailed in the tournament’s inaugural staging back in 2021, and can be backed at 6/1 to lift the trophy for a second time tonight.
Next up is the closest match in terms of the match odds and the clash of the Welsh superstars, with Gerwyn Price narrow favourite to beat Jonny Clayton at 4/6.
However, Clayton impressed in his opening round tie against Andreas Harrysson, averaging 104.86 to seal a whitewash victory, and the Welsh number one is 11/8 to defeat his compatriot in the Danish capital.
World number one Luke Littler is aiming to win the Nordic Darts Masters for the first time, and is 2/7 favourite to win his quarter-final clash against James Wade.
Wade, meanwhile, is 3/1 to cause an upset against the World Champion, who remains the title favourite at 6/4.
The other remaining quarter-final is a showdown between the world number two and world number three, as Luke Humphries faces Gian van Veen.
Humphries is 4/9 to defeat the reigning European Champion, while Van Veen is priced at 2/1 to advance to the semi-finals.
Russ Yershon from Mr Vegas shared: “The opening night of the Mr Vegas Nordic Darts Masters lived up to expectation, as a capacity crowd inside the Forum Copenhagen were treated to a thrilling night of action.
“We had two last-leg deciders, plenty of 180s, big checkouts and Elvis on stage in the break to entertain the crowd.
“We’re thrilled for Viktor Tingstrom to make the quarter-finals, but he will need to play his best darts to overcome mighty Michael van Gerwen. Tonight promises to be another entertaining evening and with Stephen Bunting out, we will crown a new Mr Vegas Nordic Darts Masters champion.
“Having won back-to-back Mr Vegas Grand Slam of Darts, we know Luke Littler likes to win one of our sponsored events, and it wouldn’t surprise anyone if he lifts the trophy tonight.”
