Luke Humphries’ dominance of the Form Guide has been confirmed by his successful title defence in New York, in which he defeated his great rival Luke Littler in a nail-biting final.
He emerged from the weekend as the only player in the PDC with a 100+ average over his last 200 legs, and possesses a comfortable lead over all his competitors in the sport, including Littler.
While the World Champion has been slightly more efficient at winning legs by the end of his fourth visit (14.5% checkout rate versus Humphries’ 13.1%), the 2023/24 World Champion demolishes Littler when it comes to legs won in the fifth visit – in winning 61% of his legs in 15 darts or fewer, Humphries is more than twice as dangerous as the average PDC tour card holder, who only wins 29% of theirs.
The best five-visit leg-winning figure any player not named Luke can muster is Wessel Nijman’s 47.7%, and Humphries’ resultant OChE rating, though it has dipped slightly in June, remains at an impressive 68 – on this form, Humphries would be expected to win two legs for every one lost to his opponent in the sport.
With Humphries and Littler’s continued domination of professional darts, there is no shame in consistently reaching a semi-final or quarter-final.
In back-to-back floor tournaments this month, Stephen Bunting did this, winning 9 matches and more than £10,000 before a trip to the US in which his tournament-high 164 checkout pushed him to the top of the ton-plus checkout leaderboard.
This resulted in Bunting moving up to sixth position in the OChE ranking, which indicates that his ninth best average is in fact more efficient at winning legs than several players with higher scoring power.
June’s most improved player is Callan Rydz, who has won his board final twice this month in Players Championship events by eliminating top Form Guide players like Gerwyn Price and Rob Cross.
Overall, his average has increased by nearly five points – a change very unusual to observe within the space of a month – putting ‘The Riot’ within the top 16 after spending much of the year in the middle of the pack.
Yet, Rydz remains one of the most erratic Tour Card holders, following his victories against Price and Cross with losses to Adam Leek and Richard Veenstra, players who he significantly outranks in the Form Guide.
Rydz has the lowest doubles accuracy of any of the top 16 players with the highest averages, and his doubles game has consistently deserted him just as he was poised to make deep runs in floor tournaments.
Dirk van Duijvenbode, a three-time Euro Tour finalist, suffered a fifth first-round elimination on the circuit this year at the inaugural Slovak Darts Open, currently leaving him out of a qualification spot for the European Championship despite having participated in all nine events in 2026.
This is a surprising result for a player who is consistently one of the most powerful scorers in the PDC – his total of 77 maximums in the last 200 legs is bested by only four other players, only one of whom (Littler) qualified for the most recent Premier League.
Yet statistically, June has been a difficult month for the Dutchman, who has suffered the largest decline in his OChE rating in the past few weeks of any PDC player.
Among his last 200 legs, he has taken out just six three-figure checkouts, and produced a doubles accuracy of 35%.
