Over 250 children from across the north-west took part in sessions of Bullseye Maths during a festival of darts-based community activity around the 2026 World Matchplay in Blackpool.
Bullseye Maths, supported by Vanquis, is the PDC’s award-winning numeracy scheme which encourages interaction with maths through a series of darts-based games and activities.
The week of the World Matchplay in Blackpool gave the chance for children from across the region to take part in specially-arranged sessions.
These included visits to Anchorsholme Academy Primary and Larkholme Primary schools, while pupils from Hodgson Academy secondary school enjoyed a session at the Winter Gardens, meeting teenage JDC star Jack Johnson.
Players from JDC Academies at Boundary Park in Oldham, Chaukees in Chester and the Blackburn Academy also took part, plus children involved in summer camps with the Everton FC Foundation, Manchester United Foundation and Fleetwood Town Community Trust.
“This was our biggest week of community activity and it was brilliant to see such a range of children engage with Bullseye Maths,” said JDC Director of Education Gary Horsley.
“Our groups ranged from an entire Year 4 group at Anchorsholme Academy to children taking part in summer camps with some of the biggest football clubs in the north-west.
“The sessions helped to develop numeracy by playing different darts-based games, and were hugely popular with everyone who took part.”
The Bullseye Maths sessions were delivered by the Junior Darts Corporation’s Education team in partnership with the Fleetwood Town Community Trust.
The JDC also piloted their Classroom to Stage scheme and ran an ABC Leadership Course and JDC Accreditation and Coaching Course in Blackpool during the week.

A busy week for PDC in the Community also saw sessions of Darts on Your Doorstep, in association with Smart Energy GB, held in Blackpool and Fleetwood ahead of the start of the World Matchplay, while members of the Out On The Oche Facebook group visited the tournament.
In addition, the World Disability Darts Association held their 2026 World Matchplay finals on stage at the Winter Gardens, and the JDC Girls Series final took place ahead of the Women’s World Matchplay, showcasing the sport’s diversity.
