Daniel Klose secured his second Winmau Challenge Tour title of 2026 with a crushing 5-1 victory over Derek Coulson in Event 20 on Sunday.
Klose – runner-up to Archie Self in Event 18 on Saturday – capped off a successful weekend by claiming the £3,000 top prize in Milton Keynes to climb up to third on the overall standings.
Klose kicked off his title challenge with a trio of whitewash victories at Arena MK, averaging 101.55 in a five-leg demolition of Jamie Kay.
The German maintained his charge with resounding wins over Patrick Dekker and Carl Wilson to set up a quarter-final clash against Ricardo Ulrich, where he recovered from 3-2 down to triumph.
Klose then produced another impressive comeback in his semi-final tie against former Grand Slam champion Scott Waites, reeling off three consecutive legs from 4-2 adrift to set up a blockbuster showdown against Coulson.
The 46-year-old was ruthless from start to finish in Sunday’s showpiece, averaging 96.07 to dispatch the Welsh veteran and complete a terrific campaign.
Despite missing out on a third Challenge Tour crown of 2026, Coulson maintained top spot on the overall standings following a series of superb performances in Milton Keynes.
The 58-year-old averaged north of 110 in victories against Nathan Potter and James Howard Hughes respectively, having also accounted for former World Championship runner-up Andy Hamilton earlier in the day.
Coulson now boasts a £2,100 lead over Joe Hunt on the latest Challenge Tour rankings, with Klose leapfrogging Tommy Morris and Tommy Lishman into third place.
The final weekend of Winmau Challenge Tour action in 2026 will take place in Wigan next month, as the Robin Park Tennis Centre plays host to Events 21-24 on September 26-27.
The top two players from the final 2026 Challenge Tour rankings will secure a PDC Tour Card for 2027/28, with the top three players earning qualification for the 2026/27 Paddy Power World Darts Championship.
