Brody Klinge has vowed to take ‘every opportunity’ that comes his way following his breakthrough campaign at the KenoGO Australian Darts Masters in Wollongong.
Klinge announced himself as Australia’s newest darting star with a series of superb performances at the WIN Entertainment Centre, as he became the first Oceanic qualifier since Damon Heta in 2019 to feature in a World Series of Darts final.
The 34-year-old – competing in just his second World Series event – kicked off his campaign with a thrilling deciding-leg win over Ross Smith, sealing his progress with an 11-dart break.
Klinge defied a 103 average from Smith in the process, before claiming the scalp of world number two Gian van Veen with a 6-4 win in the quarter-finals.
The Melbourne-based star produced further heroics in his semi-final success against Jonny Clayton, conjuring a spectacular 170 checkout to halt the Welshman’s bid for back-to-back World Series titles.
Despite succumbing to an imperious James Wade in Saturday’s showpiece, Klinge acquitted himself magnificently, averaging 104.56 and crashing in eight 180s in an 8-5 defeat.
“It’s been absolutely amazing,” revealed Klinge, who boasted a tournament average of 100.27 across four matches.
“The crowd have been behind me the whole time and I’ve really enjoyed the whole experience.
“I cannot believe I got here. It’s been unreal. I don’t really know what to say.
“Every opportunity that comes my way I’m going to take it. I’m going to keep playing and see what happens.”
Klinge’s exploits in Wollongong have confirmed his place at next month’s World Series of Darts Finals, which be held in the Dutch capital of Amsterdam from September 17-20.
The Australian is also in contention for a World Darts Championship debut in December, as he currently occupies top spot on the 2026 ADA rankings following his haul of eight titles across the season.
