Luke Woodhouse has been slashed in to 25/1 (from 100/1) in the betting for the BOYLE Sports World Grand Prix after stunning defending champion Luke Littler on a dramatic opening night at the Mattioli Arena in Leicester.

Littler had started the night as a red-hot 1/6 favourite to progress to the second round and was also odds-on at 4/7 to successfully defend his World Grand Prix crown, but his surprise exit has blown the tournament wide open, with Luke Humphries taking over at the head of the betting at 3/1 (from 11/2) ahead of his opening-round clash tonight with Dave Chisnall.

Woodhouse has seen his odds plummet from 100/1 to 25/1 and he was joined as a major market mover by Ryan Joyce, who came from a set down to oust six-time BOYLE Sports World Grand Prix champion Michael van Gerwen. Joyce has been cut from 150/1 to 40/1 following his victory, which teed up a round two clash with Danny Noppert.

Gerwyn Price (5/1), Nathan Aspinall (9/1) and Ross Smith (11/1) are all chasing new favourite Humphries in the betting after successfully negotiating their first-round assignments on Monday night.

BOYLE Sports spokesperson Lawrence Lyons said: “It was back to the drawing board for us after a couple of big upsets on the opening night, with Luke Woodhouse and Ryan Joyce making major moves after taking out two fancied contenders. But Luke Humphries has a fourth successive World Grand Prix final in his sights and punters now believe he is the man to beat.”
