Henry Coates and Kaya Baysal shared the spoils on the final day of 2026 Winmau Development Tour action in Wigan, as Sebastian Bialecki was confirmed as the circuit’s table-topper.
Sunday’s double-header saw Events 23-24 take place at the Robin Park Leisure Centre, with over 380 players competing across a marathon day of action.
Coates – a winner on the PDC ProTour in July – ran out an emphatic 5-1 winner against Owen Bates in the Event 23 showpiece to clinch his second Development Tour title.
The 20-year-old conceded just five legs in his opening four matches, before recording successive 4-1 victories against Lewy Williams and James Beeton to book his place in the quarter-finals.
The Derbyshire-born star then followed up a 5-3 success against Keanu van Velzen with victory over Tyler Thorpe in the semi-finals, setting up a winner-takes-all clash against Bates.
Coates saved his best performance for the Event 23 decider, reeling off four consecutive legs to prevail against Bates with a 97.41 average.
Baysal then rounded off Sunday’s play with Event 24 success, defeating former World Youth Championship runner-up Jurjen van der Velde to claim his maiden PDC title.
The 16-year-old was a runner-up on his Development Tour debut in July, and he reaffirmed his credentials as one of the sport’s most exciting youngsters with success in Wigan.
The teenager relinquished just five legs in storming through to the quarter-finals, claiming the scalp of Gibraltar’s World Cup star Craig Galliano en route.
Following a 5-3 success against France’s Damien Decla in the last eight, Baysal then edged out Event 23 runner-up Bates in a decider, wrapping up proceedings with a superb 11-darter.
Van der Velde led 3-1 in the Event 24 finale, but Baysal wasn’t to be denied, reeling off four successive legs and converting a clinical 106 kill to claim the £3,000 top prize.
The race for Paddy Power World Darts Championship qualification and the battle to secure two-year Tour Cards also dominated the headlines in Wigan, with over 400 players competing across the weekend.
Despite not featuring in nine of the year’s events, Poland’s number two Bialecki secured top spot at a canter, winning six titles across the campaign to secure a spot in November’s Grand Slam of Darts.
The top three ranked players on the final Development Tour rankings will compete in this year’s World Championship, although with Bialecki already assured of his place at Alexandra Palace, Van der Velde, Cam Crabtree and Jamai van den Herik will feature in the sport’s flagship event.
Owen Bates narrowly missed out on automatic qualification in fifth place, but he could still qualify if Crabtree books his World Championship spot via the ProTour rankings.
Crabtree and Van den Herik have also secured their Tour Cards for 2027-28, although Jack Drayton will also be awarded a two-year Tour Card if Crabtree is to finish the year in the world’s top 64 following this year’s World Championship.
Following the culmination of this year’s Winmau Development Tour season, the 2026 World Youth Championship will see the round-robin phase and the knockout phase from the last 64 down to the semi-finals staged on Monday October 5.
The 2026 World Youth Championship final will then be played on Sunday November 29 during the Ladbrokes Players Championship Finals, as the two finalists compete for silverware at Butlin’s Minehead Resort.
