Brody Klinge went through to defeat the re-emerging Darren Penhall 6-3
and claim his second Final win when backing up his previous evening’s
work in a thrilling end of tournament match and adding another 3x
180’s along the way, Penhall adding two of his own.
It proved a masterclass of dazzling dartistry and combination
finishing with the Victorian proving too strong.
In earlier games, a new name on the ADA Tour, Seamus Lynch, showed he
wasn’t here to make up the numbers with a wonderful run starting in
the Round of 128 and dispatching home favourite Bailey Marsh 6-2 and
Karl Schaefer knocking out the impressive Andrew Neilson by the same
scoreline.
With half the field knocked out in the opening round, Tim Pusey faced
fellow WA player Lindsay Hajl-Ali, taking out 135 on the Bull, that
proved a fantastic advert for west coast darts. Pusey eventually went
through 6-4 but not without a struggle against the affable Hadji-Ali.
Schaefer and Penhall met in the Quarter-Finals and again increased the
standards with the latter hitting 4x 180 and checking out a 125 finish
and an 11-dart leg in a tightly fought contest before progressing
through 6-5.
He improved further in the Semi-Final against local hero Joe Comito
adding a further 3x 180, a 118 check-out and a resounding 6-1 win.
But Klinge went on to double his tally for the weekend when producing
the goods in all the clutch moments and remaining calm and focused
throughout against the former PDC Tour Card holder.
