Leonard Gates will begin his defence of the CDC Cross-Border Challenge title against Jacob Taylor, as the 2026 CDC season gets underway in Newfoundland on Friday.

The annual two-day event will see 16 players from America and Canada compete for the title and a place in the 2026 bet365 US Darts Masters and North American Championship.

The winner will also secure qualification for the 2026/27 Paddy Power World Darts Championship, which will take place at London’s Alexandra Palace later this year.

Gates will open his bid for back-to-back titles against Canadian veteran Taylor, while three-time World Champion John Part takes on Adam Sevada, who finished top of last year’s CDC rankings.

Former Lakeside runner-up Jeff Smith faces 2008 UK Open finalist Gary Mawson in another stand-out tie, as former World Matchplay champion Larry Butler plays David Cameron.

Stowe Buntz – a Grand Slam of Darts quarter-finalist in 2023 – meets Albert Anstey, while Canada’s number one Jim Long goes head-to-head with Doug Boehm.

Elsewhere, Nick Linberg goes up against Kiley Edmunds, while last year’s US Darts Masters quarter-finalist Jason Brandon kicks off his title challenge against Darryl Christie.

Following Friday’s opening round ties, the tournament concludes on Saturday with the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final, with live coverage provided exclusively on PDCTV throughout the weekend.
