David Cameron produced an inspired mid-match spell to defeat Adam Sevada and clinch the 2026 CDC Cross-Border Darts Challenge title in Newfoundland on Saturday.
The fourth staging of the event saw Team Canada claim the spoils on home soil, as Cameron capped off a memorable weekend with a 7-3 success in Saturday’s showpiece.
The 56-year-old reeled off five consecutive legs from 3-2 down to take the title, which also confirms his qualification for June’s bet365 US Darts Masters and the 2026/27 Paddy Power World Darts Championship.
Sevada seized the early initiative, registering back-to-back 14-darters to lead 3-2, but a brilliant 12-dart leveller from Cameron shifted the pendulum completely.
The Canadian veteran then converted a clinical 110 checkout to edge 4-3 ahead, before producing another 12-darter – courtesy of a spectacular 164 finish – to move two legs clear.
Sevada was shell-shocked, and Cameron continued to ride the crest of a wave, following up a 16-dart break of throw with a regulation hold to wrap up a 7-3 victory.
Having kicked off his campaign with a whitewash win over former World Matchplay champion Larry Butler, Cameron continued his charge with victories over compatriots Jeff Smith and Kiley Edmunds on Finals Day.
Cameron won four of the final five legs to defeat 2025 runner-up Smith 5-3, while he ran out a convincing 6-2 winner against Edmunds in semi-finals.
Sevada, meanwhile, toppled three-time World Champion John Part in Friday’s opening round, and averaged 93 and 91 respectively in accounting for Jim Long and Darryl Christie.
Reigning champion Leonard Gates succumbed to Jacob Taylor on a dramatic opening night, with former Grand Slam of Darts quarter-finalist Stowe Buntz also a surprise early casualty.
The 2026 Championship Darts Circuit begins in Niagara Falls next month, as Events 1-2 take place alongside an open qualifier for the bet365 US Darts Masters on May 8-9.
