Ben Robb scooped his third title of 2026 in the DartPlayers New Zealand ProTour, as Jonny Tata also picked up his maiden win of the year over the weekend.
Events Five and Six of the circuit took place on April 25-26 in Nelson, as Robb claimed his third title in five events on Saturday.
The 37-year-old won all of his group stage matches – despite being taken to a deciding-leg shootout in two of his four games – before whitewashing Zacarno King in his first knockout match.
In the last 16, Robb produced the performance of the day, averaging in excess of a ton to see past Frank Bush 4-3 to reach the quarter-finals, where he put out Haunui Hira with a 5-1 triumph.
Robb was once again pushed the distance in the semi-finals, needing a deciding-leg 6-5 win over Darren Herewini to reach the final, which was won without hassle thanks to a 7-1 thrashing of Jordan Bennett-Davies.
In Event Six, Tata stormed to his first DPNZ ProTour title of the year, defeating Robb in the final to claim a sixth career title.
Last year’s DPNZ ProTour ranking-topper conceded just two legs to emerge from his group unscathed, winning three of his four matches with whitewash wins to reach the knockout stage.
The 33-year-old then recorded his best performance on the day with a 97.88 average in downing Hira 4-1 to reach the last 16, where he put out Hayden Smith with a 4-2 win.
Another straight-legs victory followed in the quarter-finals against Scott Menzies, before Tata defeated Whyte 6-3 to reach his second final of the year.
Tata – who lost to Robb in the Event Two final earlier this year – enacted revenge with a 7-4 victory to claim his first title of 2026 and deny Robb a fourth title in six events.
Tata’s success propelled him firmly to third place in the DPNZ ProTour rankings after six events this year, as Robb extended his lead at the top of the pile.
Kayden Milne occupies second spot after a strong start which included two titles in the opening four events, despite not being able to capitalise in Nelson.
Moreover, Robb and Tata’s exploits as the strongest performing players across the last 12 months on the DPNZ ProTour earned the pair the opportunity to represent New Zealand at the upcoming 2026 World Cup of Darts.
The DPNZ ProTour will continue on May 23-24, as Auckland will host Events Seven and Eight at the Howick Club.
