With his fifth ranking title of 2026, Wessel Nijman has risen to the top of the Form Guide, besting Luke Littler in terms of leg-winning efficiency.
His 0.71 advantage in OChE is a consequence of him winning 54% of his legs in 15 darts or fewer (Littler, the OChE #2, wins only 51%) and winning 133 of those last 200 in total.
On the Players Championship circuit, Nijman has been nearly unstoppable, with 26 wins in his last 28 matches.
One of these was a belter of a quarter-final in which Nijman averaged 105 and threw five maxima in nine legs but was beaten by a superb Gary Anderson.
As the #2 player in the PDC in averages and the #3 player in doubles, Nijman has prepared himself well for the World Matchplay, at which he will almost certainly be a seeded player for the first time.
Five Pro Tour wins can only take one’s game so far; bringing his 99.71 average to bear in an event with a huge prize fund could finally put this young Dutchman into the top ten.
If the 32-player field at the World Matchplay included the top 32 players in OChE as of the end of April, it would include Beau Greaves as the 25th-ranked player after a landmark Players Championship 11 win which made her the most improved player in darts.
Two successful floor tournament appearances have brought her from a 47 rating (indicating losing a majority of her legs against ProTour rivals) to a 54 (winning a majority).
Over her last 200 legs, she has recorded as many maxima as Michael van Gerwen and more than Gerwyn Price, thanks in part to a memorable 7-1 thrashing of Gary Anderson in which she limited the two-time World Champion to a single attempt at a finish of a score less than 50.
The £15,000 boost to her PDC ranking from winning PC11 does not yet put her within the top 64; but she is on course to easily secure her Tour Card status within the year, and as a player already scoring and finishing in the top quartile of the PDC, she will have no trouble climbing even higher.
With two Premier League Play-Off spots apparently secure, competition remains fierce among the remaining six players for the two remaining places.
Price is in the best shape on the basis of his current points score and his current form (#3 in the PDC in OChE, #2 in doubles), and just a few more wins will put him in excellent position for success at the O2.
Luke Humphries is just behind Price in his average score over 200 legs (99.41) but will have to climb over the Premier League’s two Dutchmen and overcome a disappointing start to his campaign to recover his hopes of an appearance at Finals Night.
Two upcoming matches in Aberdeen will be absolutely pivotal; a Humphries loss to Van Gerwen or a Bunting loss to Price might put those two remaining spots effectively out of reach for Van Veen, Humphries and Bunting.
However, on current form, Van Gerwen is not favoured to win his match due to a seven+ point deficit in OChE and doubles accuracy of only 36%, giving Humphries a small window of opportunity.
That match may be the most pivotal yet of the tournament, and prove a test case for whether the seven-time Premier League champion can recapture his old magic.
