Mongolia will make their BetVictor World Cup of Darts debut next month after winning through the Asian Tour Qualifiers on Sunday alongside Singapore and Thailand.
Eight nations competed for the right to join Japan, Philippines and Hong Kong in qualifying following the PDC Asian Tour weekend in Kuala Lumpur.
Mongolia’s emergence as a contender on the global stage continued as Altantülkhüür Myagmarsüren and Ganzorig Lkhagvasüren sealed their first appearance in the annual showpiece in Frankfurt, with a number of players from the nation impressing on the Asian Tour and teenager Tergel Khurelkhuu winning the 2025 JDC Advanced Tour.
Having defeated Chinese Taipei in their opening Group A game, Mongolia lost to Brunei to set up a winner-takes-all clash with Malaysia, which they won 4-2.
That ensured automatic progression ahead of Chinese Taipei based on legs won – winning 11 to their rival’s ten – after the two nations were tied on leg difference in the final standings.
Singapore, meanwhile, sailed through Group B with three straight victories as Paul Lim and Phuay Wey Tan defeated Thailand, Macao and Pakistan for the loss of only three legs.
Thailand then survived two missed match darts from Chinese Taipai in a dramatic play-off, as the pairing of Sarayut Ouamumpa and Sowaris Rodman secured a first World Cup appearance for their nation since 2023.
Earlier on Sunday, PDC Asian Tour rankings leader Motomu Sakai was joined by Haruki Muramatsu in qualifying to represent Japan – with the latter edging out Ryusei Azemoto by just $150 on the standings after winning Sunday’s Event 11.
Event 12 winner Paolo Nebrida joins second-placed Alexis Toylo in representing Philippines, while Man Lok Leung and Lok Yin Lee team up once again for Hong Kong.
The year’s third Winmau Challenge Tour weekend also saw confirmation of further qualifiers for the World Cup of Darts under the £500,000 tournament’s new structure in 2026.
Michele Turetta and Riccardo Castelli sealed the two places on offer for Italian players, while Luis Camacho booked his World Cup debut alongside Jose de Sousa for Portugal.
Nicolas Thuillier will make his big-stage debut for France alongside PDC Tour Card Holder Thibault Tricole, with Pal Szekely set to join Patrik Kovacs in the Hungary team.
Jose Justicia and Marcel Walpen qualified for Spain and Switzerland respectively, while Stefano Bozicek will represent Slovenia alongside Tour Card Holder Benjamin Pratnemer as they return for a first World Cup appearance since the inaugural 2010 event.
The field for the BetVictor World Cup of Darts will be confirmed on May 11, with the Players Championship double-header in Hildesheim and the Elten Safety Shoes Austrian Darts Open being the final three events before the cut-off for Tour Card Holders.
