Adam Sevada surged to back-to-back titles in the opening two events of the Championship Darts Circuit in Niagara Falls, as Gates triumphed in the US Darts Masters Qualifier.
Sevada stormed to his ninth and tenth CDC ProTour titles on May 8-9, following on from his fine form in 2025 when he topped the rankings.
The 40-year-old battled through two last-leg deciders against Jeff Smith in the semi-finals and Stowe Buntz in the final to claim Event One glory, posting an 88.66 average across his six victories.
Sevada conceded just three legs in reaching the quarter-finals, including whitewash wins over Jeff Marinucci and Albert Antsey.
After dispatching Michael Nguyen 6-2, Sevada survived two match darts against Canadian star Smith to clinch the last-leg decider.
In the final, Sevada took on future World Cup partner Buntz, winning a second consecutive last-leg decider to down the number two seed and triumph in the first event.
Event Two was also picked up by Sevada, who wrapped up an impressive 7-2 win over Brayden Hall in the showpiece, producing a 97 average.
He kicked off the event with 5-1 wins over Sean Kelly and Davey Mayne, before surviving an astonishing 22 match darts against Ram Guevara, Jr. in the last 16 to remarkably emerge through a last-leg decider.
Sevada upped his game from the quarter-finals onwards, blasting past Nick Linberg 6-1 and downing Danny Young 7-4 with a 92.25 average before defeating Hall in a stellar showing in the final.
The 40-year-old resultantly tops the CDC ProTour rankings after the opening two events, and is a firm favourite to qualify for the US Darts Masters in June.
The top American and top Canadian players on the CDC ProTour rankings after Event Four will earn spots at the US Darts Masters at the Infosys Theater at Madison Square Garden.
Meanwhile, Gates secured his spot at the US Darts Masters by winning the qualifier held on Saturday, conceding just 10 legs across six matches in a dominant day.
The 55-year-old began with wins over Canadian duo Nathan Humphries and Justin Fawcett, whitewashing the latter, before completing a 5-2 win over Garrett French.
Another comfortable victory followed over Charlie Harrison, with Gates producing a 92.85 average during his 5-1 demolition, before defeating BJ Pollock by the same scoreline to reach the final.
Gates then came back from 3-1 down against Brad Farley, reeling off four legs on the spin to cement his spot at a fourth US Darts Masters.
Two more CDC ProTour events will take place in Philadelphia from June 5-7, with a second US Darts Masters Qualifier taking place.
