Mark Webster became the latest PDC star to support the Darts on Your Doorstep initiative, in association with Smart Energy GB, after opening a new darts facility at Q’s Sports Lounge in Blackpool.
The PDC in the Community scheme was launched together with Smart Energy GB in November 2024, with grassroots darts facilities receiving a makeover alongside an information session on energy management in the home.
Darts on Your Doorstep has been a big success throughout Great Britain, with Webster following in the footsteps of Luke Humphries, Chris Dobey, Jonny Clayton, Damon Heta and Stephen Bunting with a special appearance to open a new facility.
Webster – who now forms an integral part of Sky Sports’ darting coverage – joined Smart Energy GB for Thursday’s launch – hosted by Sky Sports reporter Abi Davies – ahead of the 2026 Betfred World Matchplay.
Webster also took part in a Q&A with club members and challenged local players at the Blackpool venue.
“It was a pleasure to represent the PDC and Darts on Your Doorstep here in Blackpool ahead of this year’s World Matchplay,” said Webster – a two-time World Cup of Darts finalist.
“It’s really important to support the sport at grassroots level, so the investment being made by the PDC – alongside the support from Smart Energy GB – will have a massive impact.
“The Darts on Your Doorstep scheme is creating opportunities for so many local players, so it’s great to be part of an event like this.”

Since November 2024, over 50 clubs across the UK have enjoyed new darts facilities – including new Winmau Blade 6 dartboards – and over a thousand individuals have taken part in sessions to learn more about managing household energy use, ways to help save money on bills, and how a smart meter could help them do both.
Phillippa Brown, a Deputy Director at Smart Energy GB, said: “Local darts clubs play a valuable role in their communities, so it’s great to be part of projects like Darts on the Doorstep, that will help improve the facilities and ensure that they can be enjoyed by darts fans and players for years to come.
“We also hope the information sessions will provide another important kind of support for the people in these local communities as the cost of living is still so high – actionable advice on how a smart meter can be an important tool to help people understand and manage their energy use – and potentially save a bit of money on their bills too.”
The Smart Energy GB Darts Challenge is also taking place as part of the Darts on Your Doorstep scheme, with the top-performing clubs throughout the year winning a money-can’t-buy dart-fitting experience from Winmau, the PDC’s official equipment supplier.
PDC Chief Executive Matt Porter added: “Darts on Your Doorstep has been a major success since its inception in November 2024, and it’s fantastic to see venues across the UK continuing to benefit from the scheme.
“I’m delighted to continue our partnership with Smart Energy GB to promote the benefits of smart meters across Great Britain and transform darting facilities for grassroots venues.
“Venues such as Q’s Sports Lounge are a crucial part of the local community, and darts plays a vital role for so many of the club’s members here in Blackpool.”

Smart Energy GB is the independent, non-profit, government-backed organisation that helps households and small businesses across Great Britain to understand how smart meters can benefit them, their families, and the environment.
We do this by working collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders including charities and voluntary organisations to reach people throughout the country, including those in vulnerable circumstances, who may otherwise miss out on the opportunity to get a smart meter.
Our campaign explains the impact that having a smart meter installed has, including helping the country to build a more reliable and affordable energy system, and how the accompanying in-home display can help you take control of your energy use and manage your household budget.
