Luke Humphries has strengthened his place at the head of the BOYLE Sports World Grand Prix betting after getting his bid for a second title off to a winning start against Dave Chisnall.
The 2023 champion – who has appeared in each of the previous three World Grand Prix finals – came through his opening-round clash with a 2-0 victory and has been trimmed into 5/2 (from 3/1) with the sponsors to lift the title.
Humphries now faces Jermaine Wattimena in the second round as he looks to continue his run towards a fourth successive World Grand Prix final, with Gerwyn Price rated his main danger according to the latest shift in the odds.
Price, who faces Ross Smith in the last 16 tonight, is a 9/2 shot to go all the way, while Gian van Veen has moved into third favourite at 9/1 (from 12/1) after seeing off compatriot Dirk van Duijvenbode in straight sets on Tuesday evening.
BOYLE Sports spokesperson Lawrence Lyons said: “It wasn’t straightforward for Luke Humphries, but he got the job done against Dave Chisnall and the first round here is always a dangerous hurdle.
“He is well accustomed to reaching the latter stages of this competition and the odds point to another long run from the 2023 champion.”
