Jonny Clayton reclaimed fifth on the PDC Werner Rankings Ladder after winning his fourth European Tour title at the 2026 Swiss Darts Trophy on Sunday.

Clayton won his first ranking title since the Dutch Darts Championship in May last year to return to fifth in the world, pocketing the £35,000 prize after claiming the trophy in Basel.

The Welshman fended off a strong performance from Luke Humphries to prevail 8-4 in the final, enacting revenge from his loss to the world number two in the Belgian Darts Open final back in March.

The 52-year-old is now fourth on the European Tour rankings this year, having accrued over £80,000 across nine events, while the title also crucially secured his Grand Slam qualification – something he did not achieve two years ago.

Despite exiting in round two, Kevin Doets also rose to 25th in the world, as he continues his stellar year to cement himself inside the world’s top 32.

The Dutchman has risen 13 spots from 38th at the start of the year, and is ranked third on the ProTour rankings after winning his first title in May.

William O’Connor also rose in the rankings despite suffering a round two defeat to Ross Smith, as the Irishman now sits in 33rd, knocking on the door of the top 32.

The 40-year-old has reached a Players Championship final earlier in the year as well as reaching the last eight of the Czech Darts open, rising ten spots after a consistent 12 months in the sport.

Mike De Decker fell to 34th as a result after failing to qualify for Basel, as the Belgian has dropped 15 places since the start of the year.

Karel Sedlacek’s run to the quarter-finals in Basel saw him rise two spots to 46th in the world, greatly bolstering his chances of qualifying for a maiden European Championship in the process.

Czechia’s premier player scooped a maiden ProTour title at Players Championship 30 last month to reflect his magnificent two years with a Tour Card, as he has all-but-confirmed his spot in the world’s top 64 by the close of the year.

Bradley Brooks’ first European Tour quarter-final shot him up to 61st in the world to greatly improve his chances of retaining a Tour Card, scooping £8,000 to overtake Rob Owen.

Brooks accounted for Niels Zonneveld, Chris Dobey and Jeffrey de Graaf before missing three match darts to beat Gian van Veen, extending his buffer inside the top 64 to over £10,000.

Peter Wright dropped to 38th after this weekend’s action, only qualifying for three European Tour events this year.

The two-time World Champion has only reached beyond round three on one occasion across 30 Players Championship events this year, and has dropped seven places since the beginning of the year.
