The announcement of the PDC ANZ Premier League, to begin in October, will see 7 nights of competition before a Finals night based on the ever-popular European version.
TEG Group is one of the largest sport promoters and CEO Geoff Jones stated: “We’re excited to be partnering with the PDC for this landmark series of events across Australia and New Zealand.
“This will give us the opportunity to deliver the full darts experience for fans across both countries as well as crowning the inaugural PDC ANZ Premier League champion and in finding a qualifier for the World Darts Championship at the Alexandra Palace later in the year.”
The Australian Darts Association (ADA) will be staging 3×4 weekend tournaments, allowing 2 local players the chance to qualify and fulfil
their dreams by taking part.
“It’s a huge development for professional darts in Australia and New Zealand and the introduction of the PDC ANZ Premier League is an exciting moment for us,” said PDC CEO Matt Porter.
“By working alongside TEG Sport, we’re able to take big-stage darts to new regions across both countries which gives more fans than ever the chance to experience the unique atmosphere our sport provides.
“We want to encourage the next generation of stars to emulate Simon Whitlock, Damon Heta and Haupai Puha in making their mark at the sport’s top level, and this will prove the perfect platform for them.”
The Winner of the PDC ANZ Premier League will receive not just prize money but a berth at the World Championships held at the Ally Pally in December.
